A summer leaf
sweating
drips of dew
Under a tree,
leaf colored eyes reflect dried dirt
yearning for a sun shower
The heavy air smells of bark and maple syrup
that can stick to the ribs
like comfort food on the next inhale

That last stanza is wonderful! I've been in those woods!
You're lucky people, Corinne and Linda -- I've never had the pleasure of being in those woods, but this poem makes me long to visit even more!
I love the smell of the last stanza...
The ending is great!
plunging in the tunneled abyss
Goody, you're back!
I love the "leaf colored eyes."
This poem will be linked to tommorow from PWB. Thank you for being on our blogroll.
Fantastic imagery. I enjoyed every line.
